Description:
Meet Hunter! He is a 14-month-old setter/bird dog, with soft fur and love of rubs under his chin and naps. Hunter was dumped with another dog near our Ranch property. He wandered on the property and, after searching for an owner with no luck, he became our sweet bird dog among a pack of 12 other dogs. He quickly fit in with our other pups and established himself as an avid bird chaser and catcher! Hunter is a high-energy pup who loves to run and swim. He sometimes will even chase fishing lures into the pond (which hasnt always worked out well for him, unfortunately). Hunter also has a high metabolism and looks very skinny, but we can assure you that the vet has checked him out thoroughly and he is a healthy, energetic pup. Hunter will need a yard with space so he can run and play a pond would make him even happier! Hunter is friendly with other dogs but can be picky. He has been picked on some by other dogs and isnt afraid to defend himself. He is not friendly with cats. He sometimes gets spooked by older men and barks or growls which we think is due to abuse before he was dumped with us. Hunter has been a full-time outside dog (well taken care of!) who loves pets and belly rubs. Hunter has lived outside full time with weekly baths, a house for shelter, and water or ponds to cool him down. He is a crate Houdini and requires to be secured to the crate. He has not been housebroken or formally trained but we believe that he can easily be trained due to his young age and breed. Hunter is not leash trained as our Ranch utilizes an invisible fence. This handsome boy is deserving of a perfect home with understanding and loving owners with lots of space for him to play and chase birds.
