Description:
Roux is a handsome1-year-old fellow, whose looks and temperament suggest that he may be heavily endowed with the DNA of an American feist, the rat terriers close cousin. Often kept as hunting dogs, feists excel at treeing squirrels and such, while serious rat terriers are more likely to be pros at digging after pesky critters in the ground. Whether hes going up, down, or in some other direction, Roux is 21 lbs. of pure athleticism, and he loves to run, jump, and climb. He would be an excellent agility candidate or lure-coursing dog. He may even be good at scent work. Bottom line, Roux needs an active home that will challenge his mind and work his body.

Incredibly smart and eager to learn, Roux understands lots of commands and is ready for more. He takes guard dog duties seriously and barks at new people or dogs, but hes learning that one or two barks is enough and then its time to let the humans handle any stranger danger. Hes house-trained, crate trained, an excellent passenger in the car, and a great walking companion. His foster moms 9-year-old granddaughter is working with Roux on basic commands in this video at https://youtu.be/M-Pk2WApDYU . While the clip shows that both Roux and his young handler are learning, his enthusiasm and desire to be a student are clear.

In true terrier/feist style, Roux can play roughly--jumping and growling and snapping at other dogs. He does well with larger dogs that tolerate those antics and will play along. Small dogs are OK too, but interactions need to be monitored due to Rouxs exuberant play style. Roux would probably NOT do well with cats or other small animals, but he would definitely do well with YOU! FindpetTM is a Participating Pet Recovery Service Registry for the AAHA Universal Pet Microchip Lookup Tool. AAHA provides an internet-based application that enables veterinarians, humane organizations, pet owners or other persons to search various Pet Recovery Service registries and identify those registries on which a particular microchip is registered. AAHA is not affiliated or involved with any specific microchip registry and has no relationship, financial or otherwise, with this Participating Pet Recovery Service Registry ("Registry"). This Registry has given AAHA permission to search the Registry's database in order to assist pet owners in being reunited with their pets. AAHA does not maintain a database of microchips of its own. It only links to registries such as this one. The AAHA Universal Microchip Lookup Tool only searches the databases of companies that elect to participate in the program.
