Description:
Charlie is an adorable rat terrier mix, 20 lbs (full grown), who adores other dogs and just wants to run and play. His favorite game is to run and be chased by other dogs. This quiet, sweet dog is a total race car in the yard! Hes a perfect gentleman...potty trained, leash trained, crate trained. He doesnt chew or shred but loves his toys. He is great with other dogs and currently runs in the yard with theee other small dogs. He can be a little scared with big dogs but will typically be fine with a slow introduction.

He is neutered, dewormed multiple times, microchipped, and up to date on DHPPV, rabies, and bordatella.

Our process:

We are not a first come first served shelter. Our process may be a little longer but its designed to make sure animals are going to homes that meet their needs. You may have a great home and be lovely people, but sometimes a dog just isnt suited for your circumstance. For example, one dog may need a six foot privacy fence due to climbing behaviors while another may be fine with 4 ft chain link. Another dog may need a backyard while another would do fine in an apartment setting. We know our animals pretty well and we dont want you or your new addition to be forced into something thats not ideal for everyone.

\tSchedule a visit with the dog by going to www.copilotanimalrescue.org
\tFeel free to reach out to us by email with additional questions: copilotanimalrescue@gmail.com
\tFill out an adoption application (you can do this before or after you meet the dog). Message us once you complete the app so we can start working on your references.
\tLet your vet know (if you have current animals) that we will be calling. They frequently need your permission to give us any info.
\tHome visit and adoption trial. If all lights are green, we will do a home visit followed by an adoption trial of one week to make sure that everyone is comfortable with the new addition.
\tContracts are signed prior to the adoption trial.

Adoption fees are $200 for puppies and adults, $100 for seniors. We do not "make money" on adoption fees. Adoption fees cover a small fraction of the total cost of caring for a dog in adoption. While some are adopted in days, others are not adopted for years. Last year the directors family donated $42,000 to keep the rescue running...we did not adopt out 4200 seniors or 2100 adults/puppies (the equivalent in adoption fees). Between electricity/air conditioning, kennel worker pay, feed, gas, medical, emergency surgeries, trainers, cleaning supplies, heartworm treatments and preventatives, etc, the rescue is not making any money on adoptions. We are also saving you money! We get veterinary services at a discount with our partners. Sure, you could go pick up a free pup somewhere but the cost of getting them healthy and vetted would exceed the adoption costs we have.
