Hi - I am Toby and they call me Mr. Handsome!! I am about 29 pounds and around 1 year old. I have recently moved to my new fosters home and things are going great so far. I get along well with the other dogs here and I am eating and sleeping well. Im okay in the crate, but I generally like to see you when I am. I am a bit nervous from all of this moving around and I am getting braver every day. I like people and playing with toys (the squeakier the better!) and I also like a good bone to chew on. I am walking decent on a leash and I think I have learned to SIT when my foster mom tells me. I LOVE laying around outside in the sun out on our balcony. I am not used to all the activity outside where my foster family lives, but I am learning to not get distracted by all the sounds and the people. I am young and I hope to figure it out but it may take me a while.

I am low to medium energy and also very happy sleeping and watching what is going on around me. I am crate trained and working on my house training

Operation Paws for Homes, Inc. (OPH) rescues dogs and cats of all breeds and ages from high-kill shelters in NC, VA, MD, and SC, reducing the numbers being euthanized. With limited resources, the shelters are forced to put down 50-90% of the animals that come in the front door. OPH provides pet adoption services to families located in VA, DC, MD, PA and neighboring states. OPH is a 501(c)(3) organization and is 100% donor funded. OPH does not operate a shelter or have a physical location. We rely on foster families who open their homes to give love and attention to each pet before finding a forever home. All adult dogs, cats, and kittens are altered prior to adoption. Puppies too young to be altered at the time of adoption must be brought to our partner vet in Ashland, VA for spay or neuter paid for by Operation Paws for Homes by 6 months of age. Adopters may choose to have the procedure done at their own vet before 6 months of age and be reimbursed the amount that the rescue would pay our partner vet in Ashland.
