Description:
Dalton is a super sweet, nice dog! Hes about 6 1/2 years old. He was adopted from our rescue as a puppy in 2015 but recently returned to the rescue. Dalton is a big (65 pound) happy guy. He likes other most dogs- he goes to doggy day care and generally does well with submissive dogs that ignore him and have no interest in bones or toys. We have learned that he is dominant with toys and treats and doesn’t share very well at home so the right dog match is going to be important.
Hes good in the car - he will lay down and relax until he gets where hes going. He has been to the groomer and does well there. He loves water and the hose and can’t wait for summer! He loves walks and tummy rubs. He needs daily exercise - long walks, jogs, he loves the frisbee and to catch the ball! He loves hikes too! He needs that exercise- while he’s middle-aged, he needs to get that excess energy out.
He’s scared of storms. Hes a little whiny at times- hes just being expressive and if you tell him to stop he seems to. He’s a needy guy- likes attention A LOT! Dalton knows sit, down, and a few other commands. Hes housetrained and will ask to go out. He listens well and wants to please. Hes a really great dog and will make someone so happy!
He does have quirks which we have been learning- that’s why we have narrowed the range of dogs he’s good with. He also has a lot of curiosity for cats so he probably would do best in a home without cats.
He also did not do well when he recently met some kids - we are going to try to figure that one out and work on it, but for now we need to look for an adult-only home - no kids for him.
So it’s become a tougher job to find him the right fit - please help by sharing his posts.
If youre interested in submitting an application for Dalton or have questions about him, please email us at recycleddoggies@gmail.com We will require an approved application (no cost, no obligation - it just helps us make sure youre a good potential match!) before we set up a meeting since we dont have any scheduled meet and greet events. Thank you!
