Kay/O is a handsome large dog that appears to be a shepherd lab mix of some sort. He arrived to the Mission from Carbon County Animal Services in Utah when he was past his euthanasia date for lack of space. He is approximately 75lbs and has an estimated birthdate of 01/02/2021. At the three month mark in rescue, Kay/O has settled in very nicely. He has learned sit, how to wait at a doorway, loves to go for car rides, aced a trip to Home Depot, and has become a great snuggle buddy and showering assistant, carefully licking the water drops off of his persons legs. He also loves to be groomed and took the entire process in stride like an old pro, even leaning into the force dryer to get a better feel of the warm stream of air. He takes fluoxetine 40mg to help decrease his containment anxiety issues and his crate destruction has stopped although he still displays some signs of generalized anxiety like over arousal and vocalizations when contained or overstimulated. This medication is very beneficial to anxious dogs and is very affordable, so we anticipate it may be the best option for him for the coming months. Kay/O has been spending the last few weeks getting tuned into cohabitating with other animals and hes doing great. He would do ok in a home with dogs and or cats as long as they were used to large dogs that have rough and rowdy personalities. Kay/Os best feature is that he loves playing ball, and hes so eager to fetch that its by and large the simplest path to teach him. Kay/O also has a nice willing personality naturally which will help him learn new skills and trust more environments and people without shutting down. Kay/O comes neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and dewormed. His adoption fee is $200 and includes his leash, martingale collar, herm sprenger prong collar, muzzle, ID tag, food sample and paperwork. To be considered to adopt, please begin by visiting www.murcismission.org and sending in an application. Thank you for checking out our boy!
