Fitz is a special boy who lost his home when his owners were moved to a care home. While his owners family intended to keep him, Fitz did not like their very large Mastiff. We are told Fitz is 1/2 Shih Tzu and 1/2 Dachshund and that is very believable based on his appearance. Fitz has had more upheaval in the last few months and deserves a stable, quiet home where he will be the king of the castle. He has been an only dog but seems to be getting along with other dogs his size here at the rescue. Fitz does not act like an older dog and likely has years of life left to live. He would love to be in a home with an older person or couple. He does appear to love and protect young children however! He is hoot in the swimming pool as well, dunking his head under water and having fun! He is sweet, loving, not fearful, not a barker and very well mannered. He is an easy dog to integrate into the right household. Fitz is housetrained according to his former owners. Fitz is a coated dog (hair grows continuously) and will require brushing and professional grooming every 6-8 weeks. Fitzs adoption fee is $275 This fee includes at least one health exam at our veterinarian while in our care, altering, all vaccinations including rabies (as permitted by age), a pre-adoption professional grooming and a microchip with lifetime membership that never will cost you a fee. All dogs also leave with a new collar and or harness and leash as well as a gift bag which includes among other things, a starter bag of the quality kibble that is being fed at the rescue. Adoption fees also allow us the ability to put funds towards the next homeless or unwanted dog in need of rescue! If you would like to be considered to for this adoption or any of our amazing rescues, please fill out the application with the help of this link. https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/AZST/Dog. We review each application carefully. Please understand that sometimes we get numerous applications for specific dogs and as a volunteer-based rescue, we do not always have the time to respond to each one. We do our best to choose the most suitable home for each dog based on their specific personality and needs. Please note you MAY NOT be contacted for up to 10 days to schedule a meet and greet if your family is the most suitable for this rescue dog. Regrettably, we do not have the manpower currently to contact all applicants. We keep ALL applications in our database so please feel free to contact us when you see another dog of interest. We appreciate all applicants and do our best to pair ever dog and family for a successful and happy life.
