Description:
Charlie is 1 year young Schnauzer mix weighing 50lbs. Charlie came into rescue as a stray, as he was seen for over a month staying close to a busy intersection trying to survive. Sadly he was most likely dropped there and waiting for his ride back home. Once he was trapped and brought into rescue, he was just not gaining weight and appeared to be breathing heavily, at all times. It was discovered he had a genetic Diaphragmatic Hernia, so off to surgery he went. Fully recovered and so full of love and puppy energy, Charlie is ready for his forever home.

Charlie has a loving, snuggly, baby demeanor once he gets to know you. There is nothing he loves more then to be close to you, while watching TV or reading. Helping in the garden or doing yard work, he is right there with you! He loves his toys and you can often see him carrying his favorite toy around, even on walks! He is “mouthy” and would do best with a patient person who can work with him on this attention-seeking behavior. He is learning to show his affection, without being mouthy and wait for attention to be given vs trying to seek it. This behavior is a new normal for him and is learning quickly, through repeat, repeat and repeat by the Human. He is super smart.

Charlie is a high energy breed that will need plenty of exercise! He does great on a leash, non reactive to surroundings, so would even be an excellent running partner. He is dog friendly but prefers females or submissive males. He has not been tested with cats. Due to Charlie being a larger dog and not quite past his mouthy phase, he would do best in a home with older children (16+) or none at all. Prior Schnauzer experience is preferred.

No apartments and a fenced yard is preferred.
