You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.NOTE- PETE IS LISTED AS A COURTESY FOR ANOTHER RESCUE ORGANIZATION. PLEASE SEE CONTACT INFO BELOW.In 2012 Pete was at the Raleigh County Humane Society . I was on the Board of Directors there and quickly fell in love with him. He had too much energy for a shelter environment and basically went crazy any time he was taken out of the kennel. I was one of the only people that would spend time with pete due to his high energy. Pete was eventually put on the euthanasia list. The shelter was still a gassing shelter and he was set to head to the gas chamber. On the day he was scheduled to be killed , we , Operation Underdog, got him into an environment with a trainer. The guy took a liking to Pete and said that he would just adopt him. Fast forward to 2020, we see pete posted on facebook needing a home. Come to find out the adopter moved and had chosen not to take his faithful companion of 8 years with him. So now Pete is 9-10 years old. He is currently in a foster home on a farm. He is with pigs , cows and donkeys . He doesnt mind them at all. He is house trained, crate trained , does not try to escape a fence, does well with dogs and doesnt mind the cats. He is a very happy dog and loves everyone. Petes smile is contagious. He loves attention and back scratches. I would suggest a home without children because pete is very strong and will jump when over stimulated. Pete also displays some resource guarding on things he determines is his. I have seen it with toys, food, a bed, or a chair. This does not happen all the time, 95% of the time he could care less. However, it is there and for that reason, I would suggest an experienced owner to adopt Pete so that when he does display that behavior it is safely managed and he is easily redirected. He is happy to swap a toy for a toy. He is a perfect combination of playtime and relaxing . He would prefer a fenced yard over walks. Pete is a very easy dog and deserves his FOREVER home. He is up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, on heartworm and flea prevention, and neutered.
