The best way to learn more about our birds is to complete our parrot match application, found under the "Adoption" tab on our website, www.phoenixlanding.org. The nice volunteer who monitors PetFinders inquiries cannot tell you about specific individuals.

QUORK and BETSY are best buddies. Quork is a scarlet macaw and Betsy is a military macaw. They first came to us in 2004 from an animal control confiscation, so their ages are unknown. They were adopted but returned to us when their adopter got cancer. We take lifetime responsibility for all birds that come to Phoenix Landing. We want them to stay together in their next home.

Most birds are relinquished because people don’t think they can give enough time and attention. However, having two birds is a way to ensure they have a social life and to take the pressure off of you. You shouldn’t expect to have a hands-on relationship with a pair like Quork and Betsy, however, most birds prefer to interact without a lot of touching. So these two are just to be enjoyed, and they are certainly entertaining!

Our process: After you complete our online core class (recommended for anyone!) you will be connected with the adoption coordinator for your area. Attending one of our core parrot care classes is also required in order to adopt a parrot. A list of them may be found at https://www.phoenixlanding.org/events.html. Those classes that count as part of the adoption process are noted with an icon beside their title.

Phoenix Landing offers educational classes and facilitates parrot adoptions in Maryland, D.C., Virginia, North Carolina, and northern Florida. Phoenix Landing does not ship birds.

Thanks for helping parrots!
