#### Pearl is a 5 year old Miniature Aussie who weighs 33 pounds. Look at that sweet little face! Shes so sweet and gentle once shes with a familiar person in a familiar setting. She came in very scared but is making remarkable progress. With familiar people, she likes to sit by them and even climb into their lap, and thoroughly enjoys being petted. She can be affectionate and will approach people for treats and eat treats from their hands. She really likes cheese! If she doesnt know you, she would prefer to not be touched. She may be a bit more nervous around men compared to women. A calm human energy will be very helpful, especially as she is getting to know her new family. Pearl is a people dog. Once she decides she likes a person, she will stay by their side. She loves her people so much that she gets very jealous when other dogs are around them; so much so that she will need to be an only dog in her adoptive home. She must have a calm home, so adults only please. She really enjoys sitting on the bench in the play yard so we think she will really love being a couch pup. She is learning to walk on a leash and exercise (physical and mental) will help her so much. If you would like to meet precious Pearl, please apply at NMDR.org. - - - - - - Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have experienced minimal socialization. As a result, there is often an adjustment period when learning about life as a family pet. We typically do not adopt to homes with young children. Homes with older children will be considered on an individual basis. Common skills such as house training and leash walking will often take extra time. Patience, understanding and a gentle hand are a must. The great news is, many of these dogs come around with patience and being a part of their rehabilitation is an extremely rewarding experience.
