Jezzy is a Boxer mix who loves meeting new people! She enthusiastically greets everyone here at HSAR with excited yips and a cheerful little song each time she sees us. She isnt shy about expressing her affection for the people she loves, making sure they know how much they mean to her. Jezzy is incredibly affectionate and playful, and she easily adapts to a home environment. Her enthusiasm for life is infectious and has a positive influence on everyone around her. We have been working closely with Jezzy and were proud to say that she has interacted well with other dogs and even had a playdate where she showed excitement to be around another dog and played well. We think that with proper intros that she can be in a home with other dogs, though it may help if the other dog is male. She has learned to coexist with our shelter cat, and we believe she could live in a home with a cat, provided proper introductions and guidance. She has interacted wonderfully with our Kennels Managers 8-year-old son and with older children who come to volunteer and walk her. In her previous foster home, she became accustomed to using a gentle leader during walks to prevent pulling and our volunteer trainer has been taking her out for field trips recently to work on her training. She does really well on our walks and has even met strangers with ease. We believe a home with a spacious backyard would be ideal for her, offering the space and freedom she enjoys. A volunteer used Jez to acquire her dog masseuse certification, and Jezzy proved to be an excellent and patient client. She also rides well in the car on her field trips or to her vet appointments. Jezzy recently underwent a DNA test, revealing her genetic makeup as follows: 45% Boxer, 26% Chow Chow, 10% Husky, 5% German Shepherd, 4% Pitbull Terrier, 4% Bulldog, 3% Beagle, 2% Treeing Walker Coonhound, and 1% American Bulldog. These test results have provided us with a deeper understanding of this affectionate dog, and we hope they will assist in finding her a forever home. Jezzy was previously diagnosed with hip issues. However, with underwater rehab, daily stretches at HSAR, and supplements to ease any discomfort, she no longer exhibits symptoms on a daily basis. Her veterinarian does not believe that surgery is necessary at this time, but should symptoms arise in the future, HSAR has funding to cover her surgery thanks to her generous supporters. We have her in the front office and kennels office often and she does a very good job of keeping herself entertained and waiting to go for a potty break. Jez will not require rigorous exercise but she enjoys activities like fetch and tug. She loves being outside and exercising at her own pace. We truly love this dog and we have enjoyed getting to know everything about her but it is very much time for her to find a loving home. Additional resources are available to help Jez transition into a home if necessary. If you would like to meet Jezzy and see what makes her so special to all of us at HSAR, please fill out an online application. Jezzys adoption fee has been sponsored meaning her future adopter will not need to pay an adoption fee.
