Because we are all volunteers, Illinois Doberman Rescue Plus only considers approved applicants to meet our orphans in our foster homes. Please read our eligibility requirements and apply on our website: www.ildoberescue.com/adopt. After an application is submitted, additional inquiries can email dobes@ildoberescue.com. This sweet, 1.5-year-old girl is Brownie, who is the mother of the two, 4-month-olds that were recently adopted. Brownie came to IDR+ after she was reluctantly surrendered by her owner after going through a divorce and no longer being able to keep Brownie. As you can see from her pictures, Brownie is no average Doberman. Due to an injury that she received as a puppy from her mother biting her after getting into her mom’s bowl while eating, Brownie’s muzzle is crooked. Despite looking different, Brownie doesn’t let it bother her one bit and it has no effect on her overall health. After meeting her, we think her crooked muzzle makes her just as beautiful as her beautiful spirit. She has done well when meeting new people outside of her safety space. She will bark and get on defense but, after a treat or two, she settles in and realizes that you’re okay. Now, if you had some cut up hot dogs to offer, well that speeds up the friendship process quite a bit and Brownie quickly becomes your buddy. In her previous home, she lived with several children and other dogs and she got along well with all of them. She walks well on a leash and even knows some tricks like sit, stay, leave it, on me and go potty. Brownie is adjusting to all of the recent changes in her life and is looking for a loving home that she can call her own. If you’re interested in meeting this sweetheart, reach out to IDR+ today! We respond quickly to applications so please check your Spam or Junk email folders to prevent missing our response.
