Truffles came in when her owner died and the cats were left to starve.

Sad to say Truffles tested FIV positive. Her companion, friend and maybe brother, Butter Bean came with her and tested FIV negative. However, they are tightly bonded. They have lost much except for each other. It is apparent to us they must stay together.

Though there is no cure for FIV, recent studies suggest that cats with FIV commonly live average life spans, as long as they are not also infected with feline leukemia virus. Which Truffles tested negative.

The primary mode of transmission for FIV is through bite wounds from an infected cat. Casual, non-aggressive contact, such as sharing water bowls or mutual grooming, does not appear to be an efficient route of spreading the virus. As a result, cats in households with stable social structures where housemates do not fight are at little risk of acquiring FIV infections. (Cornell University)

So Truffles and Butter Bean, bound together by love and the memory of a terrible trauma, must be together.

Would it be easier to adopt Butter Bean without Truffles? Yes it would. Would it be fair to these two animals. No, it would not be.

Catsnap made this decision and will stand by it. Because somewhere there is someone who understands and will accept.

Completing an online application does not obligate you to adopt! We care deeply about our cats and want the best match for all involved.
