Name: Mona Best Guess for Breed: Domestic Short Hair Age: 2 years (Estimated DOB: 11/30/21) SEX: Female Approximate Weight: 11 pounds as of 12/8/23 Coloring: Black Type of Hair: Short Gets Along With: With proper integration, Mona should get along with other cats, dogs, and kids. Were happy to help with tips and tricks! Currently Living at: A foster home in the DC area. I am Looking For: My forever home! Hi- Im Mona- a gorgeous and talkative girl looking for a home of my own. I wont ask for much... just some love, cuddles and a sunny place to nap and stare at birds outside. What My Foster Says About Me: Mona has continued to come out of her shell and her personality shines more each day. Her hobbies include sitting by the window and watching the birds outside, sunbathing, scoping out perfect places to nap, and gazing at her humans with her beautiful golden eyes. (She is truly GORGEOUS, as noted by her many admirers at adoption events!) She is also a superstar at sitting on your lap while you do computer work. Monas sweet meow for affection, food, and attention is to die for. It truly feels like she is communicating with you and understands and recognizes you. She makes you feel important and heard- she will meow back to you if you meow at her, and if you call her name, she will come to you and sometimes give you an affirmative meow! And although we sometimes come home to find her hiding under the bed or other furniture, she crawls out with a meow when we call her softly. Weve noted her meow somehow seems more intelligent, meaningful, and loving than that of our other cats-there is a real connection that I feel when she meows that I cant describe in words. She also trilled at me when I talked to her today, so she is showing off her vocal range! And if you make a kissy sound at her, she will happily push the top of her head toward your mouth. I think she would be happier and would truly shine in a quieter home where she can get comfy without a bunch of other animals running around (we have two dogs, two cats, and a rotating roster of foster kittens and cats, so things can get crazy). That said, Mona is fine with our two beagles and the other cats, she mostly just ignores them, so she doesnt NEED to be an only pet. (She is currently sitting near me in a room with two cats and two dogs and all is well). She prefers to interact with the humans or find a quiet spot to nap or look outside. And even with our two dogs in the bed at night, she will hop up to sleep at our sides or next to our heads. And if she isnt there when we fall asleep, she will quietly and politely join us at some point in the night (without waking us or disturbing the dogs!) Mona would make a great first pet because she is so easy-going and independent, but also ready to cuddle if you invite her to do so. She has excellent litter box manners and hasnt had any accidents. There has been no pushing things off of tables, digging up plants, etc. She is low maintenance and doesnt need a ton of toys or even attention for that matter-she will happily accept as much attention as you want to give (bonus points if in the form of butt scratchies!!) and wont whine or be destructive if you are working all day. Shed also be great if you have other pets that are older or not particularly playful, as she wont bother or provoke resident pets but instead will peacefully co-exist while also providing you with lots of affection and being a present and loyal companion. TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for adult cats will be $200 ($350 for two cats adopted together). The adoption fee for a kitten (under 7 months old) is $220 ($380 for two kittens adopted together).
