*** DEAF and PARTIALLY-BLIND SO REQUIRES A FENCED-IN YARD, NO EXCEPTION*** **FOSTERED IN GULF SHORES, ALABAMA** Meet Braille! Braille fka Amara is a beautiful, affectionate, 18-month-old man double-merle great dane who is seeing impaired and fully deaf and will require an appropriate dane-savvy adopter. Braille is a super sweet Velcro Dane who is a total lush with all humans. Shes never met a stranger, two legged or four, outside the home. She’s excellent at events and breweries and in crowds, she loves being out and about. But she can get very pushy and dominant over human attention and affection with other dogs inside her home. She likes to be the only diva. Braille is now living in a foster home with no other pets and adores having the attention all to herself. Braille can get super jealous when affection and attention is shared with other dogs and initiated a few squabbles over jealousy in her last foster home. Braille most definitely displays dominant behavior and would likely be best as an only dog, as she doesnt like to share affection or attention with people. Even with her disability, she is super trusting and not timid in nature. She gets around really well, but of course she will bump into things occasionally. She uses her nose and touch to guide her, a lot. Once she learns her layout, routine and space though- shes easily navigating the home. She really is super smart. Braille is VERY independent and curious, shes so brave. She likes to lead and not be guided. Shes actual pretty good on leash. She feels for her humans leg next to her, too. That helps guide her. Shes very curious, she will explore everything - even in kitchen drawers. Shes a magician too. Braille can open flip-handle doors, even if locked (weve clocked her at about 30 seconds) so her foster dad has had to resort to putting child safety devices on exterior doors. She is NOT fond of crates, but good once inside with a bed she eventually lays down and settles. She is potty trained, she will go to the back door and stand, or if in the crate, she will start barking to alert you she needs to go outside. All in all, Braille is a special girl with special needs who will take extra patience, love and care - but for the right person or family, shes an absolute gem who is affectionate, gentle and will give you all the love in the world. Could you be her human? Braille is now fully vaccinated, spayed and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $400. To read over the adoption requirements and apply to adopt Braille, go to www.nwflgdr.com/adopt. PLEASE NOTE: NWFLGDR does not transport. All approved adopters are required to come meet the foster parent(s) and pick up the dane in person.
