Miss Oakley was an orphan foal who had a bit of a rough start in life. She was initially rescued by someone who was a great home for her but soon realized that she was lame and had a joint condition called OCD (osteochondritis dissecans) which is a fairly serious thing for some young horses - especially if they grow too quickly. In Oakleys case, surgery was her best option, so she made the trip to the Sanctuary and then to Vegas for surgery on her stifles. She also received IRAP injections (stem cell therapy made from her own blood) in her joints a couple of times while she was recovering. Her for long-term soundness and rideability is still to be determined but were hopeful. Shes a smart, fun girl who is extra cute and we are happy to be part of her journey.
