Description:
Looking for the perfect dog? You’ve found her. Melody came to us as an owner surrender under very unfortunate circumstances. Her original owners brought her home as a puppy and cared for her lovingly until they were forced to make the very difficult decision to rehome her. They had recently moved into a home near the airport and the constant noise and vibration from the planes was too much for sweet Melody. She became very anxious and visibly stressed out. After months of trying to make her comfortable, they decided that the best thing for her would be to surrender her to our care. Since coming to the SCSPCA, Melody has had a bit of a hard time. Loud and persistent noise pollution continues to be stressful for her, and this seems to affect her appetite. That said, Melody is very comfortable hanging out with staff in the admin offices or up at the front desk. It is in these moments where her incredible personality really comes through. She is loving and gentle. She’ll play chase with you and roll over for belly rubs. She really is a ‘people dog. In her previous home she lived with cats, kids, and other dogs. While a home with another mellow dog might be a fit for her, we really think that she would do best as an only dog at this point in her life. We think that she would do well with dog-friendly cats and respectful children. Melody is a great walker (though she prefers a quiet neighborhood), she is house trained, and is totally happy to lay down next to you on her bed. Even though she is 7 years old, she is in good health (aside from needing to gain a little bit of weight) and would be a great dog to take for forest walks in the redwoods. If you live on a quiet street, have the patience to work with a dog who is a picky eater, love Huskies that look like Arctic Foxes, and want to give a one-of-a-kind girl her forever home, complete an Adopters Profile or come down for Browsing Hours to meet Melody!
