**WE ARE NOT A SHELTER. WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE: To see an animal, you must fill out an application first and then once approved, we can set up for you to meet the animal you are interested in. Apply to adopt with our online cat application: https://fs17.formsite.com/waverlypetrescue/form4/index.html Please go to our web-site to learn more about Waverly Pet Rescue: www.waverlypetrescue.com Bellarina was born around March 2013. We took her in July 2013 when she was still a kitten. She came from a farm in the Waterloo, Iowa area. She was adopted in Jan. 2014. Her owners recently moved and couldnt take her with them. So she is a WPR kittiy again and living in a foster home. She is up to date on shots, tested FeLV / FIV negative, and spayed. Bellarina will be 11 years old March 2024. Owners said they actually didnt interact with her very much. She spent a lot of time hiding. When we first got her back, she was so scared. She would only hide under a blanket. Within 3 days, she was seeking us out for attention. Made my heart melt to have her trust us so quickly. My feeling is the previous adopters had dogs, maybe very active dogs that would chase them whenever Izzy would try to get attention. So she just learned to stay hidden and the adopters either didnt notice it was the dogs or didnt try very hard to help everyone adjust. So I am truly happy they moved because she is a total sweetheart and deserve a total cat loving home. So we want to find her a home with no dogs. She does ok with other cats if introduced properly and given time to adjust. She does well with my cat loving daughters, ages 10 and 12. My daughters understand cats and know to let the cat come to you, do not chase them to pet them. Bellarina is shy but super sweet if you give her time to know you. Once she knows she can trust you, she will come to you for petting. She likes her head, her chin and back rubbed. She is also very quiet and doesnt meow very often. You can totally tell she is very grateful for love and kindness. When her big eyes look at me, I can tell she is happy to be in my home. Bellarina has not growled or hissed at me since the very beginning when she got here. She did it because she was scared. It is possible to will start off that way in a new home. What you will want to do is start her off in a room alone. Give her space and time. In time will come around and bond with you too. She has a sister named Izzy if anyone is interested in adopting both kitties but it is not required. Izzy is more outgoing than Bellarina. Will someone please adopt Bellarina and give her a true forever home? $95.00 adoption fee. WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE. All donations are tax deductible. We do not have a shelter. All pets live in foster homes. We only adopt to indoor homes. To see an animal, you must fill out an application first and then once approved, we can set up for you to meet the animal you are interested in. We do background checks on all applicants. If you have assault, domestic abuse, or drug charges please do not apply. If you have questions, please send an email to waverlypetrescue@mchsi.com All animals see a vet for shots and normal exams. If they appear healthy and there are no obvious health concerns, then extensive testing is not done. This is normal procedure for pet rescues and shelters. Waverly Pet Rescue puts a lot of money into medical care for each dog and cat we take in. $200 is the average cost for basic care. This does not include if the animal had an injury, required extra flea / ear mite treatments, or needed extra days at the vet office.
