This little lover boy with the heart on the top of his head is Leo! He is estimated to be 18 months old and weighs approximately 50 lbs. He is neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on vaccines. Leos foster home includes a foster dad, foster mom, 2 high school children and 4 dogs ranging in size from 20 to 60 lbs. Leo loves his four legged foster siblings. He would love to find a forever home that includes another dog as he gets his confidence from being in a pack. He also loves being with his people. He will happily lay with you while you binge watch your favorite show or join you on an adventure. He just wants to be with his people. Leo will match the energy of those around him. He is happy to play with the other dogs or nap beside them in the fenced-in yard. When Leo is ready to come in, he waits patiently at the door. Leo is not food aggressive and does not resource guard - he will allow you to take toys and food away from him. He will share his bed, toys and water bowl. While at the shelter Leo was introduced to their chickens and showed no interest. He has not yet met a cat but has excellent social skills and knows how to take hint. Leo loves to spend time each day learning new commands and reinforcing ones he already knows. Leo knows the commands Sit, Down, Wait, Come, Heel, Leave it and is working on learning more. He is a quick and eager learner and is highly food motivated. Leo is very smart and loves to please his person. He is happy to go for walks and walks easily by your side. Leo takes correction from dogs and people well. Leo is house-trained. He understands that he should go outside to do his business. When given the command to “Go Potty” he will quickly find his spot and go. His foster mom works from home so he has been kept on a regular schedule which helps in reinforcing this behavior. His adoptive family should be prepared to take him out on a regular schedule. Leo is also crate-trained. He loves his crate and will enter into it easily with the command “Crate Up”. His crate provides him with security and comfort. When Leo is not outside, or with his people, he is in his crate. He sleeps in his crate and will remain quiet until he is let out. He will alert you with a whine if he needs to be let out to go potty. When it is time for him to exit his crate, he will sit and wait for his release command (“Free”) to exit. Leo will also sit and wait for his command when being let outside or back inside. Leo’s ideal forever home will be one where he can spend lots of time with his people and another furry friend. IMPORTANT MEDICAL INFO: Leo is neutered, up to date on all vaccinations and has been dewormed. For more information on our adoption process, please visit our website at www.youluckydogrescue.org and read our Adoption FAQs and Before You Adopt documents. You can complete an online adoption application from our website. You can also email info@youluckydogrescue.org for additional details that are not included in this biography. PRIVATE MEET & GREETS: Submitting an adoption application is required before a private meet & greet will be scheduled. We will complete a pre-screening first to make sure that the dog you are interested in is a good fit for you. That way, we dont unnecessarily waste your time or the fosters time. Our adoption fee is $300 and includes all age appropriate vaccines, spay or neuter and microchipping. All of our rescue dogs are heart worm tested annually beginning at 9 months of age, and they are kept on monthly heart worm and flea preventatives. The breed and age included in this listing is based upon the opinion of a vet that has examined the dog. We cannot confirm the age of the dog unless the dog was born in the care of the rescue. We are located in the metro Atlanta area. We currently do not allow out of state adoptions as a home check is required as part of the adoption process.
