Reggie Meet sweet, sensitive Reggie, a special boy who deserves to have a special home to call his own. Reggie came to us from PAWS (Provincial Animal Welfare Services) as part of an overcrowding/neglect case. This 6 yr old neutered male Catahoula Leopard Dog weighs approximately 50 pounds and is now ready, willing and able to find a family to call his own. Reggie can sometimes be uncertain and fearful in new situations and when meeting new people or unfamiliar dogs. He has become better as his confidence and experience grow but he will need patience while he settles into his new home. The best news is, once you have earned Reggies trust, he is a sweet, friendly boy who loves nothing better than to play fetch and to be around his people. Reggie does well when left alone and is not a destructive dog when left on his own in the home. He may need housetraining support and opportunities for regular potty breaks while he gets used to his new home and routine. Like most Catahoulas, Reggie is very clever and knows some basic cues like sit, down and stay. He is an athletic boy, loves playing fetch, but he has not had a lot of experience walking on a leash, so a fenced vard is required as well as patience while introducing him to leash walking. In addition to his walks and yard time, he would benefit from mental stimulation like food puzzles, and other interactive games. If he becomes stressed or intimidated by new dogs he can become reactive, so his foster mom has trained him to wear a muzzle when dogs he doesnt know want to say hello. Hes been a champ and since hes decompressed and been neutered, hes really doing much better with meeting unfamiliar dogs. Ideally, Reggie is looking for someone who would be patient, and willing to let him move forward at his own pace, and where he could be the only dog in the home. Reggie has never lived with children so an adult only or older children home would suit him best. Reggie is fully vetted and has no health issues. He is a great dog looking for his best-fit family.
