Mr. Bear, 5 months old, neutered male, German Shepherd/Catahoula mix, 72 pounds. Mr. Bear is in Houston, TEXAS and can transport out of state once an approved adopter is lined up!

Mr. Bear is a young, strong and big boy! He is described as very gentle, sweet and loving. He takes food gently and soaks up affection and attention. He loves giving kisses and enjoys pets, getting in or resting his head in your lap at all given opportunities. He is quite the lover and enjoys sleeping in the recliner with his foster.

Mr. Bear has been around lots of kids before - his previous home had 8 kids ranging in ages from 1y to 14y. Given his size, we would recommend a home with kids over the age of 10y, or close supervision around younger kids to ensure he doesnt accidentally knock over a baby/toddler. He is good in a crate and potty trained, and has displayed no signs of food aggression or other bad habits like chewing. He is not good with cats.

Mr. Bear has met and done well with other dogs, although females seem to be his preference. As he is a large dog, Mr. Bear would enjoy the company of another large dog who likes to play rough - chase, wresting and running amuck. He has been around a 52lb feisty female and just adores her. He picks up on her cues to stop paying well. He does not seem to be a fan of other large males, barking at them when he sees one nearby.

Mr. Bear currently lives in a small cabin with lots of room to roam and we have found this to be his ideal set up - he would likely not do well in an apartment unless it was with a very active owner. As would be expected for a working group dog, Mr. Bear requires a good amount of exercise - long walks or runs, hikes or sniffing expeditions, doggy day care, etc. For puppies this age, someone needs to be home more than they are away as crating them for long periods of time is not conducive for their developmental needs.

Mr. Bear does well on a leash, he does pull at first but settles down as the walk progresses. He does tend to jump when excited, so some additional training is needed.

***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dogs exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. ***
