Meet Bruno! Poor little Bruno hasn’t had the best life. He is an older fellow, probably around 8+ years old. He was found by some good samaritans out in the cold rain in a Houston, Texas suburb. He was soaking wet, cold and scared. His hair was all matted. We believe his owners dumped him out in the street just because of his age and health problems. Can you imagine such a thing? Our rescue took him in and got him evaluated. The news wasn’t much happier – Bruno was in a lot of pain for various reasons – his little bones and joints were aching, he had a few teeth that needed to be extracted and he was partly so scared because he was having some vision problems. We got Bruno the medical attention he needed – we got him groomed, some pain medication for his joints, teeth extractions and he also went to an eye specialist for his vision. With this relief from his pain and being in a loving home, Bruno is feeling better and coming out of his shell a bit. Bruno found a wonderful foster mom who is so patient and loving with him. As you can imagine, with all of this trauma in his life, he can be slow to trust. But, once he does, it melts your heart with joy. With each step he takes in his journey, his wonderful foster mom is so happy and lets us know. Bruno now likes squeaky toys, some pets and snuggles and he even met Santa this weekend! Talk about a transformation (see some of this in his pictures). Bruno is very smart. He can hop right up in the front seat of the car and lay on his blanket and take a nap. Car rides are no problem for him. He also walks very well on the leash. He is very quiet and good in the crate. He definitely likes a snack or two and will oblige with a few more pets if you sneak him a couple! Bruno deserves a perfect, wonderful and loving forever family. He needs a patient family who realizes what he has been through and will take the time he needs to decompress. We are optimistic his eyes are a little better than we thought, but he may need eye drops for a long while. Eye drops or any medicine can be a little scary for him. Again, he just needs you to build trust with him and get in a routine. This can take time. Bruno will also likely need some form of pain medicine for the rest of his life as well (Rimadyl or similar). Could you be the loving and patient family Bruno deserves? If you think so, please apply for him today!
