Meet Austin! This gorgeous fellow is a three-year-old hound mix that came to us from an overcrowded city shelter. He was surrendered when the family could no longer care for him, and he had a hard time with the noise and the chaos of a big city shelter. Austin came to us very overweight and has since lost 14 pounds, bringing him down to 79 pounds now. In his previous life, Austin lived with several teenagers and enjoyed hanging out wherever the family was in the house. He enjoys his toys and treats; however, he can get a bit possessive of his stuff, so hell need a home with children over 13 and a family with patience and enthusiasm for training. Austin is a smart cookie and has learned Sit, Place, Down and how to walk nicely on a leash while hes been with us. Hes social with other larger dogs, and has tested well with cats at the shelter.
