Adoption policy

Chewy’s Hope Rescue, a Non Profit 501(c)(3), was created to find homes for dogs in high risk shelters that may not otherwise get a second chance at life and to educate the public on the importance of spaying and neutering in order to reduce the overpopulation of unwanted dogs. Mission Chewy’s Hope Rescus is a Non-Profit Organization, with application for 501(c)(3) status, that is concentrated on saving the lives of adoptable Texas shelter dogs, specifically, but not limited to, Wise County Shelter dogs. Our goal is to save death row dogs of all sizes and all breeds by placing them into loving, forever homes in the state of Texas and to work with other Rescue Organization nationwide to accomplish our goals. We are an all-volunteer, foster home based, nonprofit dog rescue organization based in Decatur, TX. We do not have a physical shelter. Instead, we operate primarily through our foster homes, online databases and at adoption events/expos. These dogs are at the shelter, who have no voice, have been abandoned, lost, neglected, discarded or abused and many of them have medical issues, that if treated would make them highly adoptable. With limited resources, most Texas shelters have no way out for their dogs but RESCUE. These dogs are victims of euthanasia simply because there is no room for them and they are without family, love or representation and we aim to save as many as we can. We want to feel that we played a very small part of doing something good in this world. If we can make just a small difference one dog at a time, it can add up to a big difference over time. If one dog is saved, then we changed at least one life for the better. We also serve our community and adopters by educating and encouraging responsible pet ownership with an emphasis on the need for spaying and neutering. Chewy’s Hope Rescue is not taking public found strays or owner surrenders at this time. We do offer assistance with networking resources. At this time we feel that our services and skills will be best applied if we prioritize the rescue of dogs on death row.
