The Department of Animal Services is concerned with the welfare of all animals, domestic and wild, in our community. We are responsible for sheltering of unwanted, abandoned, stray and impounded animals. We enforce the City Ordinances for the City of Maumelle, relating to the keeping, restraint and humane treatment of animals. We are responsible for the education of the public concerning proper animal care and ownership. Likewise for the placement of adopted animals along with nonprofit groups. The department is obligated morally, ethically and legally to enforce ordinances to the animals in such a way as to ensure the safety of all species and to show respect and dignity and worth of all creatures.
We believe and are committed to the idea that all forms of animal life have an intrinsic value worthy of consideration. We are public servants, serving both humans and animals in our community, and we will deal with all creatures humanely.
