Founded in 1893, the Meriden Humane Society is a non-profit, no kill animal shelter and rescue facility. Many of our animals are taken from high risk situations or surrendered by private citizens who are no longer able to care for their animals.
Our organization is privately run and operated. We are supported by patrons and residents who donate to our facility. Contrary to popular belief, we are not affiliated with the Connecticut Humane Society. Without the help we receive from the citizens of our community and surrounding communities, we would not be able to save all the animals that we do.
We believe it is our moral responsibility to protect/improve the lives of animal in our care and to place them in loving permanent homes.
We help due this by providing them necessary medical care, sterilizations, consistent training, and a safe and healthy environment with unconditional love. These are critical for ensuring we set them up for future successes.
We are committed to working collectively with others who share our dedication and passion for the voiceless.
We are committed to helping our Community Members by providing food/supply assistance, education on the importance of pet sterilization, responsible pet ownership, disease control, humane treatment of animals, and resources to assist with a variety of challenge faced by pet owners.
FindpetTM is a Participating Pet Recovery Service Registry for the AAHA Universal Pet Microchip Lookup Tool. AAHA provides an
internet-based application that enables veterinarians, humane organizations, pet owners or other persons to search various Pet
Recovery Service registries and identify those registries on which a particular microchip is registered. AAHA is not affiliated or
involved with any specific microchip registry and has no relationship, financial or otherwise, with this Participating Pet Recovery
Service Registry ("Registry"). This Registry has given AAHA permission to search the Registry's database in order to assist pet
owners in being reunited with their pets. AAHA does not maintain a database of microchips of its own. It only links to registries such
as this one. The AAHA Universal Microchip Lookup Tool only searches the databases of companies that elect to participate in the
program.
