The Story of Jake -- Thursday November 26th, 2009 Jake’s story In July, 2009, a kind person found Jake cowering on a sidewalk, as he was being beaten by an angry man who then took money to stop the abuse. After money changed hands, this filthy, injured and very afraid little dog was surrendered to yet another unknown human. . Thus he entered his new environment, his small body already badly battered. This brave little trooper had several broken ribs and an unset broken leg, and a recently dislocated leg. He also had many cuts and bruises covering his body. For over a month, he stayed hidden, refused food until after his rescuer left his feeding area. Because of his life-saving fear, it was a struggle to give him the necessary medication. This delayed his recovery. Finally, still filthy and matted, he shyly came out, befriended by kind, patient humans, wanting the attention he saw other dogs get. Slowly, trustingly, he allowed his rescuer to hold him and take him home.
