Speak St. Louis is a 501(c)3 foster-based Australian Shepherd rescue specializing in double merle awareness. We are passionate about helping all Aussies, including those born with hearing and vision impairments as a result of merle to merle breeding. \tWhen two merle pattern dogs are bred together, each puppy has a 25% chance of being born deaf, blind, or both. We are committed to raising awareness of the impairments caused by this unnecessary breeding practice in Aussies and many other breeds who carry the merle pattern gene. \tSpeak St. Louis also strives to help these special needs dogs live happy, healthy, and normal lives.
